Netflix Announces Release Date for ‘Final Chapter’ of ‘Stranger Things’ After Polarizing Finale

Ahead of the series finale for Stranger Things, star Noah Schnapp, who plays Will, offered a warning for viewers that not all would be satisfied by the ending.

“It’s literally impossible, which is why they’re not working to satisfy ‘this versus that,’” Schnapp said. “There’s so much pressure on that last episode to not just finish the season, but the last episode also tells a story of what the whole show was. But I think the Duffers and us as a cast, honestly, are good at tuning out the noise.”

Now that the series is officially over, Schnapp’s warning was prophetic. Season 5 of Stranger Things received the worst scores from critics and fans alike with the latter hitting the iconic series with just a 56% on Rotten Tomatoes (critics offered a much kinder 83%).

Duffer Brothers Offer “Final Chapter” for the Beloved Show

While fans may not have universally loved the final season, the Duffer Brothers are offering a final look at how the conclusion came together in the documentary: One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things Season 5.

“A decade after rewiring pop culture, Stranger Things returns for its final chapter,” the synopsis reads. “One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things Season 5 is a sweeping behind-the-scenes chronicle that follows the cast, creators, and crew as they bring the final season to life — and say goodbye to the show that changed them forever.”

‘Stranger Things’ Documentary Gets Release Date

On Monday, Jan. 5 Netflix revealed the trailer for the documentary, directed by Martina Radwan (Girls State).

“I’m endlessly grateful to the Duffer Brothers for trusting me with a front-row seat to this incredible journey. Spending a full year on set with them was a true privilege — and an absolute thrill. Being able to get close and watching them bring this beloved show to life in real time was pure joy,” Radwan said.

“I only wish I could travel back in time and document Seasons 1-4. From the cast to their long-time collaborators, everyone welcomed me with remarkable generosity, openly sharing their personal and collective experiences from a decade of creative filmmaking. The Duffers always push boundaries and inspire everyone to be better, including myself. Their process and the show represent everything I love about filmmaking.”

The documentary hits Netflix on Jan. 12.
