Mike Tyson during the Jake Paul fight press conference.

While Jake Paul gets set to face Mike Perry this weekend, Mike Tyson will be on the outside looking in. Paul recently revealed that Tyson told him that Perry is a “killer”, so it should be an exciting warmup for Paul at the very least.

The Tyson-Paul rescheduled fight looms in November, and Tyson is doing everything possible to get past his ulcer flare-up and perfectly healthy to fight the younger Paul. A part of that process includes drugs, but thankfully only of the non-performance-enhancing kind.

MIke Tyson will take psychedelic drug days before Jake Paul bout

In an interview with Esquire, Tyson outlined his plan to be fully ready for the fight.

First, days before the bout, he will ingest a drug derived from the poison of the Sonoran Desert toad-known as 5-MeO-DMT or simply “the Toad”-for what he calls a one-way trip to meet God. He’s done the psychedelic close to a hundred times now, but he doesn’t know what he’ll talk to God about this time. He only knows it’ll be deep.

Tyson has been very open about his recreational drug use. In fact, he has his own brand that sells marijuana products called Tyson 2.0.

With the Tyson-Paul fight expected to officially sanctioned, Tyson needs to be wary about his drug use. The Texas department that regulates and bans substances has marijuana on that list, as well as “any pharmacological substance that is not approved for human therapeutic use“.
