Behind every great boxer are people who motivate and inspire them to continue to work hard and achieve their goals. Anthony Joshua is no exception, but there’s one person in particular who takes priority over everyone else.

Joshua is extremely close with his mother, Yeta. He recently gave an interview to Desert Island Discs in which he delved more in-depth on the mother-son bond the two of them share.

And while discussing it, Joshua revealed that he only very recently moved out of his mother’s house.

She’s done so well to raise someone like me: a hard-headed, hard-working son. I know how tough it must have been for her. She was a single mum at a certain stage in her life… I didn’t want to leave my mum alone. I wanted to make sure that her foundations were strong so that when I leave, mum’s good. For me, that’s freedom. Knowing no matter where I am in the world, mum’s happy and taken care of.

It appears that time finally came, and Joshua could leave the “nest” in good conscience. Joshua has explained in the past that he stays with his mother due to it being his “home base”. He loved the ability of seeing his family whenever he’d be home in London and not traveling.

Joshua certainly has plenty of money to get himself a massive house if he wanted to. His net worth is close to $200 million according to the 2024 Sunday Times Rich List.
