Conor McGregor smiling as he sits on a doctor's bed

In a cryptic post on his Instagram, UFC star Conor McGregor has teased fans following rumors that his UFC 303 comeback against Michael Chandler is off.

Rumors that Conor McGregor‘s comeback fight at UFC 303 on June 29 sparked this past Monday when the Irish star canceled all of his media obligations, including a press conference in his home City of Dublin.

After both McGregor and the promotion failed to provide a clear reason for the postponement of the press conference, rumors of a possible injury to the 35-year-old began to pick up steam, leaving fans worried that he was out of his comeback fight against Michael Chandler.

Conor McGregor shares an image of himself in the doctor’s office

Following the postponement of the press conference, both fighters posted on their social media pages but their posts left more questions than answers, regarding whether the fight is still scheduled to go ahead.

The status of the fight was further thrown into doubt when it was reported by Ariel Helwani that the UFC was sending out ‘feelers’ to other fighters, as they sought a possible replacement fight.

Despite that, the former two-weight world champion provided somewhat of a cryptic update on his Instagram, seemingly sat on a doctor’s bed. With no caption, the superstar simply posted a flexing emoji as he sat with a big smile on his face.

Although there is a level of concern that the 35-year-old is in the doctor’s office and so there could be an injury, the message he is clearly trying to convey is that he is still good to go on June 29.

There is ‘great optimism’ that the fight will go ahead according to reports

According to reporter, Ariel Helwani, this past Wednesday there is still ‘great optimism’ that the welterweight fight between McGregor and Chandler at UFC 303, will still go ahead.

While the UFC was searching for potential replacements, former UFC featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski threw his name in the hat, stating that he would step in on late notice to ‘save the day’.

Not only that but UFC analyst, Chael Sonnen, suggested that if ‘The Notorious’ was out of the fight, the promotion should try to put together a ‘BMF’ title fight between Max Holloway and Michael Chandler.

Despite the worry and uncertainty over the past week regarding the status of the UFC 303 main event, it seems as of now, all systems are a go.
