Michael Jackson’s childish reason for repeated marriage proposals to one actress!

Michael Jackson has an unparalleled place in the history of music and it became more evident as countless fans around the world listen to his music even today. Jackson was not only the greatest entertainer of all time but also the most successful performer of all time. Being a man of many talents- a phenomenal singer, dancer, and songwriter- earned him the title of The King of Pop.

Needless to say, he had the biggest influence in the music industry. As a result, he met a lot of celebrities from Hollywood. However, in his long career, he met only one actress, who held a dear place in his heart, and he repeatedly asked her to marry him despite his proposal being turned down every single time.

Michael Jackson Repeatedly Proposed to Brooke Shields to Marry Him

During the 1970s, filmmakers were passionate about making films on taboo topics such as graphic violence and s*x. One of the most infamous films of this generation is Pretty Baby, a film that revolves around a child prostitute. The film featured Brooke Shields, who was a minor back then, hence, her portrayal of 12-year-old Violet in the film made it immensely controversial.

In spite of the controversy, the young actress earned her shot to be featured in another film titled The Blue Lagoon. In her documentary, Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields via EW, she stated how a lot of things about her life have been misreported, including her friendship with Michael Jackson. She mentioned how they met in 1981 at the Academy Awards, immediately becoming good friends.

She believes that they instantly became fast friends over their responsibilities and how even years later, they were both “very childlike.” Their bond received immense attention from the media especially because of rumors of Michael Jackson and Brooke Shields dating each other.

As per reports from Rolling Stone, in 2009, an emotional Brooke Shields talked about their bond and the unique friendship they have shared since the 1980s. The actress opened up about how MJ would ask her to marry him more than once. She said,

I would say, ‘You have me for the rest of your life, you don’t need to marry me, I’m going to go on and do my own life and have my own marriage and my own kids, and you’ll always have me. I think it made him relax. He didn’t want to lose things that meant something to him.

She further continued how the Beat It singer was like a “little kid” and someone who had “never really left his bubble.” She added,

As I grew up and started having boyfriends, I would share with him, and he was like a little kid who talked about the bases — what first base was, what second base was, and it sounded very odd to the outside, I can imagine, but to the inside, to someone who’s never really left his bubble, you can understand how he would be curious.

While their friendship did not end with marriage, the two stars shared a very pure bond and were the best of friends. She was devastated when she spoke at Jackson’s funeral back in 2009 and had some heartfelt and moving words about the singer at his funeral.

Michael Jackson Felt Insecure Because of His Skin Condition

Prince Jackson appeared as a guest on Mike Tyson’s Hotboxin’ podcast, where he gave an insight into the singer’s vitiligo, a genetic skin condition that would cause a patch of skin to turn white. Jackson mentioned how the Billie Jean singer would share his diagnosis when he was a kid.

When I was younger, he was always explaining to me, speaking about that. He had a skin condition called vitiligo. I think it was even in the autopsy report. I think the cause of it, it’s up for speculation, but it’s either vitiligo or some form of lupus that contributed to the vitiligo.

Prince Jackson further added how his father would feel insecure about his physical appearance and wanted a remedy for his appearance. 

He had a lot of insecurity around, looking blotchy in his appearance. So, he wanted to see if he could smooth out his appearance to help with his security on his, I guess, physical appearance.

It was pretty apparent that the change in his skin tone was not his want, but a genetic condition, that he inherited from his father’s genes.
