Who is the Hawk Tuah girl? Why is she famous? Decoding Hailey Welch’s fame as she attends Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry

Welch rose to prominence after being featured in a man-on-the-street interview on Tim & Dee TV. She went viral for her frolicsome and risque comment on how to please a partner. Her response made her an overnight sensation with even UFC star Conor McGregor reacting to the video.

Capitalizing on the viral success, Welch partnered with a local apparel brand to launch the ‘Hawk Tuah’ merchandise. She sold over $65,000 worth of it within a couple of weeks. While several fans reported that Welch worked as a school teacher, she has since clarified that she worked in a spring factory.

The appeal of the influencer space compelled her to quit the job at the spring factory. Welch signed for representation with The Penthouse in July 2024 and has since amassed over 100,000 followers on Instagram.

The viral internet sensation established her company, 16 Minutes— a play on the phrase “15 minutes of fame,” which grew to reflect the nature of social media prominence. It’s worth noting that Welch has filed for trademarks in apparel and entertainment on the use of the catchphrase.

The newfound popularity has enabled a certain degree of celebrity status where she’s regularly spotted at prominent events. She joined Zach Bryan on stage to perform his song Revival during his concert in Nashville, Tennessee. Welch also joined Shaquille O’Neal during his DJ set performances and a banner with the phrase was also displayed at UEFA Euro 2024.

At the Paul vs. Perry clash, she was spotted in the front rows with American rapper Lil Pump.
