Jake Paul punches Mike Perry during their boxing match

Mike Perry has come in for considerable criticism after his knockout loss to Jake Paul in Florida on Saturday night.

The former UFC star was dropped twice in the opening rounds before being stopped in the sixth by Paul after the pair agreed to put together a fight on short notice. The YouTuber had been due to face Mike Tyson on the date, but that bout was postponed to November due to a medical issue.

Since the fight, there have been a number of critiques, mainly of Paul for his inability to move up levels in opposition. But a few in the MMA scene have also been critical of Perry’s performance, with one rival in particular very upset with how he did on the night.

Darren Till slams ‘total amateur’ Mike Perry over KO loss to Jake Paul

After just making his own debut in the boxing ring, which ended in carnage after his opponent quit before attacking him, Till has been interested in pursuing future bouts in the crossover world. He was due to fight on the undercard of what would have been Paul vs Tyson, but a visa issue scuppered plans.

And he was critical of both men in the aftermath of Saturday’s new fight, telling Submission Radio: “Jake was blown out of his a** after the first round, and Mike Perry just was stumbling over his own two feet. It looked to me like Mike has never had or been coached by anyone.

“He just looked like a total amateur in there, he really did. I get he’s tough, and I get he’s durable, but that just only takes you so far. Yeah, he’s the king of violence in bare-knuckle, but there’s nobody in bare-knuckle.

“There’s nobody there. He should have beat Jake Paul. Maybe not, Jake was 40lb heavier than him, juiced out of his nut, but still, he probably should have put up a better fight than he did.”

Darren Till claims Mike Perry vs Jake Paul felt ‘fake’

Till was competely unconvinced by either Paul or Perry’s boxing ability, to the point that he struggles to believe that it was a legitimate contest at all. The YouTube star has regularly been accused of fixing fights, but there is zero basis to these concerns and he has vehemently denied them multiple times.

“It was a weird fight,” Till continued. “It feels like it’s all fake, I’m not going to lie… Perry’s been beating all these guys [in BKFC], literally beating the living daylights out of them. Now I get it, Jake Paul’s 40lb heavier and a big, strong guy, he can punch Jake, as well.

“We’ve got to give him his due and he is improving. But Jake was gassing after one round, and it just didn’t look normal to me. I’m going to be honest with you. It didn’t look normal. And I bet there’s a few other people thinking the same thing.”
