With Jake Paul set to fight this weekend against Mike Perry, many fans have been left wondering the status of one of boxing’s most talked about events in recent years, Paul’s blockbuster matchup against Mike Tyson.

Originally Paul was slated to face Tyson in a heavyweight fight at AT&T Stadium this weekend, but a postponement forced Paul to shift gears, keeping the same date but moving it to Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, where he’ll face Perry, who fights in the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.

From YouTuber to professional boxer, Paul, 27, has yet to establish himself as a real contender in the sport, but he has become one of the biggest draws in boxing, consistently drawing strong gates and impressive pay-per-view numbers.

His matchup against Tyson, 57, set to stream live on Netflix, was expected to fetch potentially millions of viewers, with crossover appeal between long time fight fans and the younger generation of fans following Paul’s career closely.

But with the delay and Paul now fighting Perry this weekend, what is the status of the Tyson vs. Paul fight?

Has the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight been canceled?

Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), Paul’s promotional outfit, announced in late May that the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight was postponed, but it was not canceled.

The fight was simply rescheduled for Nov. 15, remaining at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and still set to stream live on Netflix, free for all subscribers.

The fight was postponed after Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up during a flight, subsequently leading medical professionals to recommend he slow his training temporarily to rest before ramping back up to a full camp.

The delay in training meant Tyson would’ve been unable to have a full training camp ahead of the fight, and given Tyson’s age, Paul’s team agreed the best course of action was to move the fight back.

“Our team has worked diligently with all parties involved to reschedule this monumental fight to a date that ensures both Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are fully prepared, with equal training time, as well as allowing us to keep the event at AT&T stadium in the midst of the Cowboys season,” Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of MVP, said in a press release.

Win or lose, Paul is still set for the Tyson matchup, just four months later than originally anticipated.

Originally the Tyson vs. Paul fight avoided scheduling conflicts at AT&T Stadium with the Dallas Cowboys, but the postponement meant organizers had to find a date that worked with the Cowboys’ schedule. Nov. 15 is a Friday, as opposed to the originally scheduled Saturday in July.

The Cowboys play on the following Monday night at home, giving stadium staff enough time to turn stadium over between the fight and Monday Night Football.

Jake Paul and Mike Tyson came face to face at their New York City press conference at the Apollo Theater on May 13. Paul and Tyson will square off in an officially sanctioned heavyweight fight on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Are Katie Taylor, Amanda Serrano still on the card with Mike Tyson, Jake Paul?

The chief support for the Tyson vs. Paul fight has remained the same as well. The co-main event will see Katie Taylor (23-1) rematch Amanda Serrano (46-2-1) for the undisputed junior welterweight championship. Their first fight in 2022 was the first female boxing match to headline at Madison Square Garden and was a thrilling affair that ended in Taylor taking a split decision win.

The rematch is for Taylor’s undisputed junior welterweight titles, while Serrano remains the unified featherweight champion.

Like Paul, Serrano will not wait for November’s blockbuster fight, as she takes on Stevie Morgan in the co-main event of Paul’s fight against Perry this Saturday. Serrano is promoted by Paul and MVP.
