Jake Paul doesn’t want to hear about his size advantage over opponents anymore.
This past Saturday night, the former YouTube star turned boxer dished out a lot of punishment to Mike Perry before putting away the UFC veteran in the sixth round. During the fight, it was undeniable that Paul looked much bigger than Perry, who spent most of his career competing at 170 pounds.
Prior to the bout, Perry told MMA Fighting that he anticipated weighing somewhere between 194 and 196 pounds as he bulked up for the cruiserweight limit against Paul. At the official weigh-ins, Perry hit the scale at 196.6 pounds while Paul was 200 pounds even.
The eye test still seemed to show that Paul was remarkably bigger than Perry in the ring, but “The Problem Child” claims he only had a few pounds on his opponent.
“People say everything about weight difference,” Paul said on his BS podcast after the fight. “Forty [pounds], 40 whatever. I was 212 [pounds] in the ring tonight so 10-pound difference. That’s common in boxing.”
As of now, there’s no telling how much Paul actually weighed compared to Perry, but he’s not buying that his size advantage played a part in his dominant win over BKFC’s “King of Violence.”
That being said, Paul decided to take aim at a much bigger opponent in his post-fight callout, asking for a matchup against UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira.
While his team never heard any mention of that name during training camp, Paul says he had that idea in his head all along because apparently he knew criticism was coming about his size advantage over Perry.
“Alex Pereira rehydrates to 240 [pounds],” Paul said. “So I want someone who, when I f*ck them up like I did tonight, there is no excuses. Alex Pereira, 6-foot-4, 240 pounds, kickboxing world champion, two-division champion in UFC. When I beat him, what the f*ck can they say?
“People are like, ‘Yeah, whatever.’ Write me off. Keep writing me off. That’s what you guys have always done in every single facet of my life since I was f*cking 8 years old. Do you think it’s ever going to f*cking stop me, when you guys say I can’t do something? That’s what I want, you silly f*cking dweebs.”
Of course, Pereira wasted no time accepting the challenge with a simple “let’s go” response after Paul FaceTime called him in-ring to address a potential fight between them.
With Pereira under contract to the UFC, There’s very little chance the fight actually happens, but Paul promises that’s the matchup he wants to chase after he gets through 58-year-old Mike Tyson in November.
“I can’t be stopped,” Paul said. “Let’s go, Alex Pereira is who I want. What will they say?”
