BREAKING: Vince Gilligan Just Spilled the Future of Pluribus — And It Goes WAY Beyond Season 2 😱🔥
The mastermind behind Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul has finally lifted the curtain on where Pluribus is headed next… and fans are losing their minds. Gilligan confirms the story won’t end with Season 2 — in fact, the universe is about to expand in ways nobody saw coming. New arcs, bigger mysteries, and a bold narrative twist that could reshape the entire series.
This isn’t just a continuation… it’s the start of a multi-season vision Gilligan has been quietly building from day one. Buckle up — Pluribus is nowhere near done.
Pluribus’ Future Details Beyond Season 2 Revealed By Vince Gilligan

Reuniting Gilligan with Better Call Saul star Rhea Seehorn, Pluribus quickly became the talk of the town when Sony Pictures Television and Apple TV acquired it for two seasons, his first series in the wake of bringing the Breaking Bad universe to a close. The studio steadily began building anticipation through a collection of cryptic marketing messages, building up to its November 7 premiere date, while season 2’s production schedule remains under wraps.
However, in a recent interview with ScreenRant‘s Graeme Guttman for the show’s cover story, Vince Gilligan offered an exciting update on Pluribus‘ future. The creator began by revealing he has “more of an idea how the show should end” than he has in the past with Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, but cautioned that he will “always quickly get rid of a good [idea] for a better idea“:
If one comes along, I’ll happily discard what I’m thinking of right now. [But] we have a general roadmap of where the show should go.
Despite knowing where he intends the show to end, Gilligan is currently unsure “how long [Pluribus] should go“, acknowledging that he always prefers “knowing when to leave the party” and to “leave people wanting more“. Joking that no creator wants to “be the guy with the lampshade on your head” at a party while everyone “looks at their watch wondering why won’t he leave“, he admits it’s “one of the trickiest parts” of his job. Every show before this one — Breaking Bad [or] Better Call Saul — someone would ask me a question. How long after season 1 [or] how many more seasons do you think you have? And then it turns out we had enough story for six [seasons of Saul], which was a very nice surprise. So in my mind’s eye, yet again, I’m thinking, “I don’t know.” Maybe three seasons for Pluribus. But maybe it goes past that. It is trickier [because] this one feels like it can’t go on forever… But none of them do.
Much to Gilligan’s point, both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul saw some flexibility and plan changes in the writing stages from Gilligan and his creative partner, Peter Gould. With season 1 of the former, affected by the 2007-08 Writers Guild of America strike, they were forced to trim out two of their originally planned nine episodes, which Gould previously expressed kept the show from ending after three seasons. Saul, meanwhile, saw them stay open to how much mileage they could get from the prequel timeline.
With it currently unclear just how far along Gilligan and his team are in putting together the already confirmed season 2, there’s no telling how close he is to his endgame for Pluribus. Season 1 comprises nine episodes, making it slightly shorter than most other Apple TV sci-fi series’ seasons, and therefore potentially gives everyone more room for unveiling the story in the next season and beyond, should the episode count be slightly increased.

Regardless of the progress made, though, Pluribus is quickly on track to become Gilligan’s biggest series to date. In addition to being his first outside the Breaking Bad universe, it’s his first to get a two-season order right out of the gate, and his first proper sci-fi venture since his time on The X-Files. With the creator clearly having a deep creative investment in his “roadmap“, things are looking promising for the show’s future.
The first two episodes of Pluribus premiere November 7 on Apple TV, followed by new episodes every Friday.
