Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are excited to become a family of five!

Following the couple’s big pregnancy reveal at the 2025 Met Gala, an exclusive source shares with PEOPLE that the “Love on the Brain” singer, 37, and the Long. Live. ASAP artist, 36, are “thrilled to be growing their family.”

The insider also explains why the couple, who are already parents to sons, Riot, 21 months, and Rza, 2, wanted to have their children close together in age.

“Rihanna has always wanted a big family, so she couldn’t be more excited. Rihanna and Rocky are thrilled to be growing their family and they can’t wait to give their boys another sibling,” the exclusive source tells PEOPLE. “They wanted to have their children close together in age, so that they could grow up together and share a close bond. They feel so blessed and are so grateful for this next chapter in their lives. It’s a very special time.”

Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, and Rihanna have welcomed great news over the past couple of months. In February, Rocky was acquitted in his felony assault trial after he was accused of firing a semi-automatic handgun at A$AP Mob member A$AP Relli during an altercation that happened in November 2021.

With the news of the new addition, Rocky’s lawyer Joe Tacopina exclusively tells PEOPLE that the soon-to-be family of five has had a “great couple of months.”

“Needless to say it has been a GREAT couple of months for the family!” Tacopina says. “God is smiling on them!”

Now that the trial is over and the pregnancy has been revealed, an exclusive source told PEOPLE that the couple is now “focused on family time.”

The two “had some time to decompress and just focus on family time,” the insider told PEOPLE. “Rihanna’s a great mom. She loves playing with the kids.”

The source continued, saying Rocky’s “such a playful dad too. They were hoping for another baby.”

As for how Rihanna’s settling into her pregnancy, the source told PEOPLE she’s been opting for baggier clothes this time around.

“Rihanna’s always gone with the flow, but this time around, she joked early on that it would be hard to hide the baby bump. She’s been in baggy clothes for months,” they shared.

As she walked the blue carpet outside the gala later that night, Rihanna gave an update on how her third pregnancy is going.

“I’m good. I’m shockingly feeling okay and not too overwhelmed at the moment,” the pregnant mom of two told Entertainment Tonight. “I mean, at first, it was kinda like, ‘Ah!’ And I’m tired, but then I’m excited.”

The musician was then asked if this pregnancy would delay her forthcoming ninth album, to which Rihanna pushed back and said, “No. Maybe a couple videos, but I can sing!”
