There is nothing better than sharing a special moment with friends, but one 8-year-old girl from Ohio got the surprise of a lifetime when a sweet bonding moment with her neighbor over a Taylor Swift song went viral on TikTok.

As reported in an exclusive from People, Madeline threw a paper airplane over the fence that would set off an incredible series of chain reactions – including a present from former “The Voice” advisor Taylor Swift.

According to the exclusive from People, Madeline and her family were in the middle of making dinner when Ethan Hayes, 26, could be heard singing from his own patio next door. The family listened to the young musician, encouraging him with cheers from their window.

Madeline’s mother, Natalie Hulec, stated, “We had the windows open, we’re making dinner, and even Russell, my husband, shouted out a little ‘Woo!”

After listening for a while, Madeline wanted to know if Hayes would be willing to sing one of her favorite songs, “Love Song” by Taylor Swift.

In an act of bravery, Madeline wrote the request on a piece of paper, then tossed it over the fence. Hulec recorded the heartwarming leap of faith, and the pair waited to see if their old-school message would be received.

Hulec’s husband eventually intervened from the kitchen, according to Hayes, who had missed the little white plane when it landed in his yard. Hayes recalled, “I was playing, and then he’s like, ‘Hey, man. My daughter just threw an airplane.’ So I went over and looked.”

Hayes was stunned and recounted in the exclusive that up until that evening, the families hadn’t spoken much. Hayes and his roommate had recently moved in, but in the busy worlds they inhabited, they hadn’t had the chance to get to know each other.

Upon reading the request, Hayes was initially nervous, as he noted, he isn’t a huge “Swiftie.” Thankfully, thanks to his career as a musician, he knew “Love Story” and was able to play a charming patio rendition of the song for Madeline. She was delighted by his willingness to accept her request.

Hulec was deeply moved by the pair, stating, “I took a picture of the note, and of course, I’m going to watch her attempt to get this over the fence. I was like, ‘Let me record this.’” She then uploaded the video to her TikTok for family.

The moment wasn’t just adorable to Hulec and her family, however. After waking up the next day, she and Madeline discovered that the video was rapidly gaining views. By the afternoon, it had gone viral, and she realized she needed to let Hayes know he’d been in the video she’d shared.

The surprises weren’t over yet, however. Hayes explained that after the video had blown up, he was contacted by Swift’s team on TikTok. They said that Swift had seen the video and was moved by the sweet moment he and Madeline had shared. They said Swift had a special surprise to send, and not to tell anyone until it had arrived.

Hayes recounted, “I was expecting maybe a signed poster or something. And then she sent us guitars, which is insane.”

In the photos shared in the exclusive, Madeline can be seen holding up a full-sized guitar, lovingly grasped in hands adorned with iconic, beaded friendship bracelets. The Midnights motif on the front of the guitar is complemented by Swift’s signature in black ink.

The guitars came with a personalized message for both Madeline and Hayes, written by hand on small, white postcards. She personally thanked them for sharing her music. She encouraged Madeline to try her own hand at playing, writing, “I’m sending you your own guitar, in case you ever want to learn too!”

Madeline was overwhelmed, thanking Swift, and hopes others will go out and try to share special moments together. Madeline and Hayes’ special moment is the perfect example of how little gestures can have big impacts.
