The promoter of the new champions has been clear and intends to have another dream matchup between these two boxer
This past weekend, boxing fans witnessed one the most anticipated matchups in the last decade. Oleksandr Usyk beat Tyson Fury in a split decision to proclaim himself the first undisputed heavyweight champion.
After making history, Usyk already has a long line of challengers to the crown and there is already one boxing match in place to try and dethrone the new ruler.
However, there is one stipulation that could put that on hold, as both Oleksandr and Tyson Fury signed a rematch clause that has been rumored it would not happen anytime soon.
Fury has said that he felt that he won the “majority” of the rounds in the fight, and after the end result coming on a split decision, the rematch has been a topic of conversation since the boxing encounter ended.
Alex Krassyuk, Usyk’s promoter, said he and his boxer intend to honor that rematch clause, by making it public on an interview. “We are men of our words. It’s not about paperwork – if we shake hands and promise something, we do it. I see no reason for the rematch not to take place,” Krassyuk said.
When will the rematch happen?
According to reports and to the stipulations were before the first match, many believed a second match could go down as soon as later this year and from the members of Fury’s camp are saying, it all points to October.
A few boxers have already raised their hand to be next in line if the rematch does happen later in 2024 but would have to wait until early 2025 to face whoever ends up with all the titles.
Joseph Parker and Agit Kabayel could be the first two to start talking about facing the current undisputed champions if an official announcement on the rematch between Usyk and Fury takes some time.
