One of the biggest attractions of the year is the return of boxing legend Mike Tyson. The former heavyweight champion will take on Jake Paul in a professional boxing bout on July 20. While the preparations are in full flow for ‘Iron,’ he suffered a recent medical emergency on a flight that has bothered many. As per various reports, the 57-year-old “became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare up 30 minutes before landing.”
Despite Tyson’s assurance of being 100% ready for the sanctioned fight, many believe that he is not in the correct physical state to enter the ring. The latest to echo the same sentiments is former UFC fighter Michael Bisping as he scrutinized Mike Tyson’s training video while also accusing the legend of editing.
Michael Bisping feels Mike Tyson isn’t as sharp as he looks in the videos
One of the biggest talking points of the upcoming boxing clash is the age difference between both boxers. Tyson will turn 58 at the time of the clash, which is a cause of concern for most out there. However, the former champion has stepped up his training, which is quite evident in his training videos. But is this exactly the case? Former UFC champion Bisping doesn’t feel the same. In his latest video, he pointed out certain facts that might anger Tyson fans.
The 45-year-old opined, ” Mike Tyson absolute legend. But 58 years old right? This is just a great example of why a fight like this should not be going ahead. Mike Tyson is not the same person.” Talking about his recent training videos, Bisping pointed out that it is looking good on camera but the 58-year-old would struggle to keep up the face when he takes on Jake Paul.
Bisping believes, “We know there’s video clips out there, and he’s looking fast and he’s looking brutal and he’s looking deadly and he’s got the power. But it’s easy to edit up a quick little TikTok video, you know. A few seconds looking good, you can see the cut shots. You see, the interludes. You can look good for a couple of seconds. But try doing that sustain over eight two-minute rounds. Against the guy that’s in his prime.”
Tyson’s opponent Jake Paul has impressed many with his boxing skills in his brief career. Not only does he have the speed, but also the power to knock people out. However, the former social media influencer has received a lot of criticism for agreeing to face Tyson. One of his recent critics is Curtis Blaydes, who shared his honest opinion about the upcoming hyped fight.
Curtis Blaydes isn’t interested in the upcoming boxing fight
Curtis Blaydes is all set to take on interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall in the upcoming UFC 304. Blaydes previously defeated Tom Aspinall via knockout at UFC Fight Night in July 2022 via KO/TKO. However, he will now have to face a completely new challenger, as the Brit is now a force to reckon with in the division. ‘Razor’ recently appeared for an interview with ‘MiddleEasy’ where he shared his game plan for his upcoming fight. However, he also took the opportunity to share his honest opinion about the upcoming boxing fight.
While most of the fans are super excited about the clash, Blaydes isn’t quite feeling the same. He revealed, “I will not be watching.” while adding, “I think it’s a joke fight. You could tell just by how they’ve been interacting with each other at the press conference. That’s not the Mike Tyson who’s coming to rip your head off. That’s the Iron Mike, and it’s just not the same sort of thing.”
Tyson is way past his prime. However, one cannot deny the fact that he still can cause an upset on July 20. It will be a challenge for him to maintain the same intensity for the full eight rounds. But the fans would want to see him in action for what could be the last time.
