The Duchess of York thinks her red hair would make her perfect for a Bridgerton cameo

Could Bridgerton be adding a real life royal to its cast? It seems that could be a reality if Sarah Ferguson has her way.

The Duchess of York said that she would love to appear on the hit Netflix show, hinting that she could play a fellow redhead next to Nicola Coughlan’s character, Penelope Featherington.

“I want to go on Bridgerton,” she said during an episode of Good Morning Britain this week. “I think Lady Penelope should have a friend who’s got red hair like me. Don’t you think?”

It would be a first for the show to have a celebrity act out a cameo, apart from the time the author of the original Bridgerton books, Julia Quinn, made a quick appearance in its spin-off Queen Charlotte.

However, if anyone could live up to the task it would be Fergie. The duchess has a long list of ties to the British royal family and high society that stretches far past her princess daughters.

Not only was she married to Prince Andrew, younger brother of King Charles III, for nearly ten years but she is also a descendent of King Charles II, who ruled England, Ireland and Scotland in the 17th century.

While joking about her potential TV role, she also invited Susanna Reid, a host of Good Morning Britain, to star with her. She said: “Susanna, let’s go on Bridgerton.”

The third season of the regency romance started airing last month, skyrocketing Coughlan into further fame. The Irish actress has the central storyline in the most recent installment, along with her co-star Luke Newton.

The second part of the season is due to drop on Netflix on June 13. Time will tell if we’ll see a real duchess on air soon…
