Jackman will portray the character for the first time in six years in November

Hugh Jackman has revealed his brutal diet and training regime as he prepared to play the role of Wolverine for the first time since 2017, in ‘Deadpool 3’.
The Australian first played the character at the age of 32 in 2000, but now aged 54 he had to push his body further to get into shape for the popular jacked-up Marvel character.
Jackman revealed the diet on X, formerly known as Twitter, as he aimed to bulk up for his first appearance in the role since the critically acclaimed ‘Logan’.
The diet consisted of a hefty amount of carbohydrates, protein and vegetables, which are all things that are required to put on the pounds during training whilst avoiding adding fat.
His meals, which are estimated to range between 1100 and 2100 calories per plate, consisted of chicken burgers, sirloin steaks, fish and rice and salmon and potatoes.
The third chapter in the Deadpool series debuts in cinemas on November 8, 2023 and follows two box office successes released in 2016 and 2018.
Hugh Jackman as Wolverine
As mentioned above, Jackman was 32 when he took on the role of Wolverine in 2000. He was initially criticised for being too tall to play the role standing at 186cm, whilst the X-Men character is canonically 160cm tall.
However, he has since gone on to become synonymous with the role. The actor/character combination has proven so successful that Jackman claimed the record for the longest career as a live action Marvel character, before being surpassed by Patrick Stewart as ‘Professor X’.
After portraying Wolverine in nine films, Deadpool 3 will become the 10th time he has retained the role in film meaning that he will claim the record back from Stewart.
He had initially retired from the role of the character in 2017, leading to his version of James Howlett being killed off in the box office hit, Logan.
But he will now return to the role in November, 2023 alongside Ryan Reynolds‘ Deadpool character, who was had a running gag of a rivalry with Wolverine in the previous two instalments of the series.
