J.K. Rowling is feeling sorry for the Hermione-Ron romance arc which she felt justified for personal reasons at the time.

"I know, I am sorry": J.K. Rowling Made Emma Watson Marry Rupert Grint in Harry Potter For "Very Personal Reasons"

The Harry Potter books and the films have been tremendously loved by fans worldwide. Actors Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint played Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley respectively, and did justice to J.K. Rowling’s creation. However, fans were critical of one aspect of the book and the films.

Harry, Hermione and Ron's frienship has been the emotional core of the Harry Potter franchise

In both the books and the films, Hermione gets romantically involved with Ron instead of Harry through the course of their evolving relationship. This was a rather controversial choice for fans. Rowling herself has admitted that she made that choice due to personal reasons and is regretful of it.

J.K. Rowling Admits That the Hermione-Ron Romance Was Born Out of Her PreferenceMost fans wrent happy with the the fact that Hermione ended up with Ron instead of Harry

J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books have been loved over the years and Potterheads continue to celebrate the legacy of the franchise. Similarly, the films starring Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint have been faithful to the books and remain a cult film series. The relationship between Harry, Hermione, and Ron throughout the narrative has been praised except for one controversial arc.

Watson’s Hermione and Grint’s Ron romantically end up together in both the films and books, a choice that has frustrated most fans of the franchise. who believed that Harry was the better and more suitable choice for Hermione. Rowling admitted to this mistake and revealed in 2014 that she made that controversial decision out of her personal choice and reasons at the time of writing.  She said, (via The Hollywood Reporter)

“I wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfillment,” she says, as excerpted by the U.K.’s Sunday Times. “That’s how it was conceived, really. For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron.”

I know, I’m sorry. I can hear the rage and fury it might cause some fans, but if I’m absolutely honest, distance has given me perspective on that. It was a choice I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of credibility. Am I breaking people’s hearts by saying this? I hope not.”

The question of who Hermione fits better with is all a matter of perspective. However, most fans agree that Hermione ending up with Harry makes the most sense and credibility. Rowling is finally understanding this it is great that she admitted to what she did wrong.

WB Chairperson Says Casting for the Harry Potter Series Will be Tricky

The Harry Potter TV series is currently in early stages of development
The Harry Potter books are set to be reimaged for television as WB is developing a multiseason Harry Potter series spanning over 10 years. Various writers have started giving their pitch for the series and the casting process is set to begin very soon.

The Chairperson of Warner Bros. Television, Channing Dungey talked to Variety about the casting process and how it will be extremely hard to live up to the legacy of what Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint achieved with their iconic roles. Dungey further revealed that the tricky part of the process is finding the right kids to play the younger versions of the characters. He said,

“We’re in conversations with a number of different writers to figure out who’s going to be the person to lead that franchise for us. The first step for us is figuring out who this showrunner is going to be and once we get that locked down, then we can start having those [casting] conversations. The tricky part is the first two books, where the kids are on the younger end, around 11 or 12.”

The official casting news may be revealed sometime this year. The actors who will be eventually cast have a tough task ahead of themselves as they have to live up to the beloved legacy of the previous films. Fans hope that WB does a good job at casting the right person for the right role.
