How difficult is it to become the most subscribed YouTuber in the world?
It can’t be much harder than becoming one of the best soccer players ever, right?
Well, Portuguese soccer legend Cristiano Ronaldo is now close to clinching both of those titles.
On Aug. 21, Ronaldo launched his YouTube channel, called UR Cristiano.
So far, his videos range from titles like “The real reason why I cried in Euro 24” and “This is how I manage the pressure of being Christiano.”
More than 55 million people subscribed to his channel in the first two weeks.
Ronaldo quickly surpassed YouTubers like iShowSpeed. Now he says he has MrBeast in his sights.
Ronaldo reached more than 19 million subscribers on his first day on the platform.
YouTube presented him with a Gold Creator Award that same day. That’s a prize for anybody who reaches one million subscribers.
In a post on X, YouTube congratulated Ronaldo and said he was “the GOAT on the field and on YouTube!”
Ronaldo thanked his fans and shared a video of his kids reacting to the statue, shaped like a giant play button.

U.S. streamer iShowSpeed — who has more than 28 million subscribers — was live streaming as Ronaldo’s subscriber count surpassed his own.
He threw his body onto his streaming setup and appeared to smash the equipment when the big moment arrived.

According to Ronaldo, iShowSpeed isn’t the only YouTuber he plans to out-subscribe.
In an interview in Portuguese, which took place during a news conference ahead of Portugal’s UEFA Nations League games, Ronaldo said MrBeast is the one to beat next.
He still has a ways to go.
MrBeast is currently the most-subscribed YouTuber with 313 million subscribers.
