Kate Beckinsale co-starred with Hugh Jackman in 2004’s Van Helsing and had nothing but kind words for her experience with the Wolverine actor.

Actor Hugh Jackman is making his much-awaited return to the iconic role of Wolverine in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine. The Australian actor originated the role more than two decades ago and has a Hollywood career that spans even longer. During this time, Jackman has rarely been accused of being anything less than being the nicest person in Hollywood.
In an interview, co-star Kate Beckinsale spoke about the experience of working with Jackman, and praised him for his calm and kind demeanor. As a result, the nicest guy tag continued to follow Jackman throughout his career. However, the actor has himself denounced the tag and shared the perils of holding it. Here is what Beckinsale and Jackman had to say about the latter being the nicest person.
Hugh Jackman Was Accused of Being the Nicest Guy in Hollywood By Kate Beckinsale
Hugh Jackman made his Hollywood breakthrough with the role of Wolverine in 2000’s X-Men. The film led Jackman to superstardom but even during his early days in the industry, the actor was known for his humble personality, leading to many of his co-stars calling him the nicest guy.
Jackman starred alongside actress Kate Beckinsale in the 2004 action horror movie Van Helsing. While promoting the movie, the co-stars sat down for a joint interview with Blackfilm, where Beckinsale described Jackman as one of the nicest people she had worked with.
Kate, you’re going to ruin my career.
Jackman jokingly made the above statement in response to Beckinsale’s accusation of him being the nicest guy. However, Beckinsale further reiterated her praise for Jackman by revealing how her co-star made the process extremely easy and enjoyable for her.
Similarly, other co-stars of Jackman have also commended the actor’s welcoming and kind persona. Actress Anna Paquin, who starred alongside Jackman in the X-Men movies called him a lovely person and a role model.

Despite being called the nicest guy in Hollywood by most of his co-stars, Jackman himself does not believe the same. During a 2023 interview with The Guardian, Jackman admitted that he wasn’t always the nicest person in the room. He said:
I’ve had my moments on set, for sure, when I haven’t been nice. And I’ve behaved sometimes on set where I’ve yelled a bit or done something where I’ve been angry that I’m not proud of.
Jackman further added that he simply tried to follow in his father’s footsteps while being respectful to others.
AdvertisementThe actor described his father as his role model, implying that his kind and warm actions which had earned him the nicest guy in Hollywood tag, were a reflection of his father’s teachings. Jackman attributing his nice guy image to his father further proves the actor’s down-to-earth and humble nature, making him truly one of the finest people around.
Van Helsing is streaming on Peacock while Deadpool & Wolverine is scheduled to be released on July 26, 2024.
