Gutfeld! contributor Kat Timpf has revealed she was diagnosed with breast cancer last week, on the same day she delivered her first child.
The Fox News personality shared the news on social media Tuesday. In a post she titled “An Unconventional Birth Announcement,” Timpf recounts giving birth last week, just fifteen hours after receiving the stunning diagnosis.
“Before you worry, my doctor says it’s Stage 0 and is confident that it almost certainly hasn’t spread,” Timpf writes. She goes on to say that she was considering treatment plans after being told “the best course of action would likely be a double mastectomy as soon as possible” when she went into spontaneous labor.
Timpf ultimately gave birth, revealing she has welcomed a son.
The Fox News personality has been a regular panelist on Gutfeld! since the show’s launch. In fact, she helped hold down the show after host Greg Gutfeld welcomed his own child in December and took a several-week paternity leave. Timpf had continued to be a familiar face on Gutfeld! throughout her pregnancy, appearing as recently as last week.
In her statement, Timpf referred to a three-month maternity leave—which she adds is “going to look a lot different than I’d anticipated, and I’m still getting used to my new reality.”
She ended her announcement on a positive note. “I’m learning to celebrate everything I can. I’m lucky that we found the cancer so early; I’m lucky to be my son’s mom,” she wrote. “I mean, I know I’m biased, but the little dude absolutely rules — and not just because he might have saved my life.”
