‘Hawk Tuah’ girl Haliey Welch has responded after tennis star Nick Kyrgios slammed her surprise appearance at Jake Paul‘s fight against Mike Perry on Saturday.
As the viral sensation got a loud reception at the Amelie Arena, Kyrgios took to social media and said: ‘No correlation between fame and actually being decent at something anymore,’ punctuating his criticism with a laughing emoji.
Speaking to TMZ, Welch admitted that the tennis star’s remarks hold no weight to her.
‘Let me put it this way, I don’t wake up and hate on anybody else,’ Welch told the outlet. ‘I don’t understand why people do that, at all.
‘I mean, they have their own opinion, they’re entitled to it, I don’t care. If they wake up and feel that way then so be it. I’m not concerned about it.

Nevertheless, Welch admitted to enjoying her first live boxing match, saying: ‘It was really exciting. I never got to watch anything like that in person.’
When asked what the craziest part of Paul’s sixth-round knockout over the former UFC fighter was, Welch mentioned Perry getting cut above the eyebrow.
‘When he busted him up his eyebrow, I was like [shocked], there’s no way,’ she said. ‘You get to see spit flying, sweat, and everything, I was like: ‘There’s no way I’m seeing this right now.”
Furthermore, she spoke about her new-found fame and potentially hiring security when she’s in busier places. She also mentioned not being used to people asking for pictures when she’s out in public.

‘They had security a little understaffed at the time but they got us some more. I’m not used to that, I guess I got a little taste of it.’
‘At some place, like here, where it’s busy, possibly [hire security]. But I’ll be fine at home. I know just about everybody there.’
