Deadpool & Wolverine is going to bring back a slew of X-Men franchise stars in addition to Hugh Jackman, who returns once again as Wolverine. Among the other X-Men actors to come back is Aaron Stanford, who reprises his X2: X-Men United and X-Men: The Last Stand role as Pyro.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Stanford commented on his return as Pyro in Deadpool & Wolverine. His return will see him playing the character for the first time in 18 years, and it came with a chance to upgrade his Pyro costume. The actor went on to explain how the character was “shortchanged” with his look in the previous films, and that makes him all the more excited to finally don an actual superhero costume for the upcoming movie, including Pyro’s trademark goggles.

“I was just very happy to even have a costume,” Stanford explained. “In the original X-Men films, Pyro gets really shortchanged in terms of a costume. In X2, we start off with Pyro in Xavier’s School for Gifted Mutants. The SWAT team bursts in in the middle of the night and we have to flee. So for half the movie, I’m in my jammies. I never got the cool leather, tactical suit that all the X-Men wear.”

The actor continued, “And in X3, I was just dressed in an ensemble from Hot Topic, basically. So to have him be in a proper superhero costume that was actually taken from the comics themselves was very cool.”
There will be several other X-Men movie stars featured in the new film. A recent trailer confirmed the inclusion of Sabretooth with Tyler Mane reprising the role, while fans believe they’ve spotted Juggernaut in the background in other promotional footage. There’s likely to be a lot more cameos that are being kept secret until the release of the film, but in recent years, X-Men movie actors have also been popping up in other MCU projects. This includes appearances from Patrick Stewart’s Professor X and Kelsey Grammer’s Beast in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and The Marvels, respectively.
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman Lead the Cast of Deadpool & Wolverine
Deadpool & Wolverine is led by Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as the titular characters. They’ll be facing a multiversal threat in the form of Cassandra Nova, the movie’s villain played by Emma Corrin. Shawn Levy is the director of the film.
Deadpool & Wolverine will be released in theaters on July 26, 2024.
