Besides giving Jenna Ortega her own show, Wednesday season 1 on Netflix introduced the setting of boarding school Nevermore Academy along with the many cliques that are present there. The cliques helped paint a realistic and interesting picture of life at the boarding school since people tend to split up into groups no matter where they are or how old they are. It’s also interesting to see the Normies and the students with magical abilities. While Wednesday has psychic powers on the Netflix show, she isn’t in a clique, but she learns a lot about her new school in the first season.
However, fans didn’t learn much about the Nevermore cliques or see any dynamics between them, which is something that should change in Wednesday season 2. From sharing more details about each clique to making sure that they are part of a major storyline, it would be great to feature the cliques more in the new episodes of the popular Netflix series.
How Can Wednesday Season 2 Use The Nevermore Cliques More Effectively?

Wednesday season 2 should focus on the Nevermore cliques in a few different ways. First of all, the show could introduce conflict between the cliques. Perhaps two members are fighting, which causes everyone to get upset. This would be a fun storyline since Wednesday enjoys other people’s misery. She would have fun observing the tension between the clique members. Maybe one of the many new cast members could ask Wednesday for help without realizing that she has a sarcastic and tough personality. This could lead to a fun dynamic.
Second of all, Wednesday season 2 could feature a storyline where Wednesday thinks a member of a Nevermore clique is her stalker. This would be a classic red herring, which would be a perfect way for Wednesday season 2 to be more horrifying. While Wednesday can’t join one of the main cliques since she doesn’t have the same powers as them, she’s good at being mysterious and spying on people to get the information that she wants. Since she doesn’t trust most people, it would make sense for her to think that a Nevermore clique member was the one watching her.

Focusing more on the cliques at Nevermore would also place Wednesday Addams at the center of the action once again. Even though the other students have found connections with each other, Wednesday still stands on her own. As Tim Burton, the director and executive producer of Wednesday said in a video:
“Wednesday, to me, is the classic outsider. And part of the fun of the show was to create a school for outsiders at Nevermore.”
However, even though Wednesday likes to keep to herself, she likes her roommate Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers) and would likely side with the clique that Enid is part of. While Wednesday season 2 should have more Addams Family jokes, Wednesday also has to show some change and growth. She can do that by helping everyone come to a resolution… in a hilarious and very Wednesday Addams way that still fits with her character. She would have some fun along the way, even if no one else was enjoying themselves.
Who Are The Cliques At Nevermore Academy On Wednesday?

There are four Nevermore Academy cliques: Stoners, Scales, Furs, and Fangs. Gorgons are Stoners, sirens are scales, werewolves are furs, and vampires are Fangs. While these are briefly mentioned, hopefully Wednesday season 2 will delve into them more since they are what make Nevermore Academy so unique.
Enid Sinclair tells Wednesday about the groups of creatures in Wednesday season 1, and while there are some YA tropes that should be left behind, the trope of cliques works well. It creates a complicated sense of community at Nevermore since it proves that some students get along, but it also has a dark side. Since only some students can be part of each clique, that creates tension, exclusion, and competition.
There is also a secret society called The Nightshades at Nevermore, which Bianca Barclay (Joy Sunday) is part of. While it might not be one of the four main cliques, it still counts as a social group. She tells Wednesday in one funny scene:
“The Nightshades are an elite social club, emphasis on elite.”
Wednesday shows her dark sense of humor and biting sarcastic tone when she replies:
“Wow. Do you guys even have a bedtime?”
If Wednesday season 2 doesn’t include the first season’s flaws and leaves some plotlines in the rearview, like the love triangle, then there’s more time available to focus on the cliques at Nevermore Academy. It would be great to learn more about their history and also see some tension between them.
