American Idol season 24 is set to air on January 26—but it looks like we all missed a sneak preview of the incredible talent we’re going to see!

With a new season coming our way, fans have been anxious to find out who Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, and Lionel Richie will choose to partake in the competition. But on January 20, the American Idol social team dropped a surprise first look at what’s to come, introducing viewers to one special contestant days before the first episode premieres on ABC.

The clip posted on YouTube showcases 19-year-old college student Jesse Findling’s emotional rendition of Benson Boone’s “In the Stars.” The judges clearly loved it, giving Jesse a standing ovation after his performance.

“I don’t think I blinked one time,” Luke told Jesse afterward. “I mean, wow. You’re a real singer. Man, I’m really proud of you. I love this show because we get to meet kids like you.”

Shortly after a clip of Jesse’s audition hit the internet, the singer himself took to the comments to reflect on the moment.

“Forever grateful!” he replied. “Thank you for taking the time to watch my audition, this is just the beginning. ❤️.”

Fans were equally enamored with Jesse and what he could potentially bring to American Idol season 24.

“He has the voice of somebody you’d hear on the radio consistently!” one person wrote. “Gosh, now I want to hear him sing a big song because he definitely has more in him!” another agreed. “Best voice that I heard in a very long time on these shows! ❤️ Way to go!” a different follower added.
