Jake Paul speaks onstage during the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson Boxing match Arlington press conference at Texas Live! on May 16, 2024 in Arlington, T...

Instead of waiting till November 15th to fight Mike Tyson, Jake Paul announced this past Tuesday that he will fight former UFC welterweight, Mike Perry, on July 20th, in Tampa, Florida.

Jake Paul was preparing to take on Mike Tyson on July 20th, but the fight was postponed after the 57-year-old suffered an ulcer flare-up a few weeks back, resulting in him taking time out of training to recover.

Although the fight has been rescheduled for November 15th, ‘The Problem Child’ has decided to take another fight in the meantime, taking on former UFC fighter turned BKFC star, Mike Perry, in an eight-round cruiserweight bout, at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.

Daniel Cormier believes Mike Perry will make the fight ‘ugly’ for Jake Paul

The 32-year-old ‘Platinum’ Perry will be the youngest former MMA opponent Paul has taken on so far, with Anderson Silva being the oldest at 47 years old.

The 27-year-old has easily beaten all previous MMA fighters he has picked to fight in the boxing ring, with his lone loss in the sport coming against English boxer, Tommy Fury.

Since leaving the UFC in 2021, Perry has forged an incredible career for himself under the BKFC banner, winning five fights in a row and becoming one of the promotion’s biggest stars.

His last win came against Thiago Alves at BKFC Knuckle Mania 4 back in April, and prior to that, the 32-year-old beat former UFC champions, Luke Rockhold and Eddie Alvarez.

With ‘Platinum’ best known for being a brawler, UFC legend, Daniel Cormier, believes he will make the fight against the 27-year-old ‘ugly’ and will ultimately beat ‘The Problem Child’.

“This dude is an absolute killer,” the UFC commentator labeled Perry in his recent YouTube video.

“If I’m being honest, I believe that Mike Perry wins this fight. I think Mike Perry’s going to make this fight just ugly enough to beat Jake, but if he doesn’t, and if his gameplan isn’t ideal he will find himself putting himself in dangerous areas and Jake Paul can crack,” Cormier added.

Daniel Cormier questions whether Paul vs Tyson will go ahead

With his fight against ‘Iron’ Mike still scheduled for November 15th at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Cormier is skeptical whether that fight will go ahead with it being so close to his fight against Perry.

“He’s going to turn around again and fight Mike Tyson in the fall? That’s fast. Does he just anticipate that he’ll take no damage against Mike Perry? It seems (like a) fast (turnaround),” the former UFC two-weight world champion stated.

‘The Problem Child’ also signed with MMA promotion, PFL, in January last year, and PFL chairman Donn Davis claimed that the internet star will make his MMA debut before the end of 2024.

It was previously rumored that the promotion offered former UFC star, Nate Diaz, a substantial purse to fight Paul in the PFL SmartCage. The two met in the boxing ring last August, with Paul picking up the unanimous decision win.
