Former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury caused concern over the weekend when footage showed him being escorted out of a bar in Morecambe and collapsing on the pavement, highlighting his ongoing struggles with alcohol. This incident, which quickly went viral, has raised alarms among fans familiar with Fury‘s long battle with addiction.

Fury has had a career filled with both significant victories and personal challenges. He shocked the boxing world in 2015 by defeating Wladimir Klitschko, a win that should have marked the peak of his career.

However, he soon spiraled, pulling out of a rematch with Klitschko in 2016 and turning to alcohol and drugs. His weight ballooned to 28 stone, and his mental health suffered, leading to suicidal thoughts.

In 2018, Fury made a remarkable comeback, losing 10 stone and returning to the ring. He faced Deontay Wilder in a bout that ended in a draw, defying expectations.

The reason he quit drinking

He then won their rematch in 2020, reasserting his status as a top heavyweight. Despite these successes, Fury’s battle with alcohol continued.

In 2021, Fury admitted to drinking 12 pints a day while on holiday. He later quit drinking to focus on his mental health, which helped him in his trilogy fight against Wilder. Despite this, he was seen celebrating with expensive vodka and engaging in long drinking sessions after his victories.

Fury’s activity in the ring slowed, punctuated by bouts of drinking. In late October 2023, he fought former UFC champion Francis Ngannou, appearing out of shape and narrowly winning by split decision after being knocked down
