The Diplomat Season 4: What We Know So Far

Good news for fans of The Diplomat: Kate Wyler won’t get to rest any time soon! The Netflix series starring Keri Russell as the titular diplomat is confirmed to return for a fourth season, and after a dramatic season 3 finale, you can trust the next chapter will be a busy (and juicy) one for Kate.
In an interview with Netflix’s Tudum, showrunner and executive producer Debora Cahn said, “I’m so excited about season 4. It’s going to be a lot of fun. We get to the end of a season and I always think, ‘Well, there’s no way that we can do this again.’ And then we dig back into it, and it’s like, ‘Oh my God, we have to keep going.’”

Who will be in the cast?
Russell, Rufus Sewell, David Gyasi, Ali Ahn, Rory Kinnear, and Ato Essandoh are set to reprise their roles in season 4. Allison Janney and Bradley Whitford have also been promoted to series regulars.
“Working with Allison and Brad, watching them together again, and the off the charts foursome that is them with Keri and Rufus… it’s an insane bag of candy,” Cahn told Tudum. “Our expectations were high and it blew right past them.”
“I was thrilled when I heard that Debora was interested in me doing something,” Whitford previously told Tudum. “I had no idea what it was, but I love the show. I was jealous of the writing on this show. I love Keri. I love Rufus. And I hear Allison Janney is good at acting too. It’s an amazing cast.”
“Brad was the fantasy version of Todd—for all of us,” Cahn said. “We still can’t believe it came true.” Executive producer Janice Williams added, “Bradley was the perfect addition to what is already a dream cast.”
When will The Diplomat season 4 come out?
A release date hasn’t been set yet, but filming is slated to begin this fall.
In an interview with ELLE, Janney teased that production on season 4 was imminent. “We’re about to start season 4, and I don’t know what’s happening, but I have a feeling things are going to get really crazy,” she said.
