The newest installment of Emily in Paris has dropped on Netflix

Emily in Paris returned for a long-awaited fourth season on August 15 on Netflix. The latest season depicts the indecisive fashionista , torn between two hunky love interests. In the divisive Netflix hit show actress Lily Collins plays Chicago marketing executive Emily Cooper, as she stumbles through life in Paris after landing her dream job.

Emily In Paris season four is split into two five-episode parts – the second installment following on September 12. But many of those enjoying Emily’s American accent, and terribly mispronounced French, may not realise Collins was in fact born in Surrey. Lily Collins, born in 1989 in Guildford, is also the daughter of musician Phil Collins.

She moved Stateside as a child following her parents’ divorce, which happened when she was five. Lily admitted she even forced herself to speak with an American accent when the kids at her school in LA repeatedly bullied her for her posh British dialect.

“I was the new girl with a very sweet, strong but specific British accent,” she says in an interview with Grazia, adding, ‘”I was trying to say the names of my classmates but I just pronounced vowels in a very different way and so I got made fun of.”

Reminiscing with Great British Life about her time in Surrey, she said: “I was born and raised in the countryside. I remember I was fascinated by fairy tales. It was this magical world for me, and I would run in the garden imagining myself to be a fairy and playing with the animals and the elves of the woods. I was always playing alone, but I was convinced that they existed and were around me.”

The 32-year-old British-American actress first studied journalism after moving to Los Angeles and has wrote for Seventeen magazine, Teen Vogue and The Los Angeles Times. Speaking of her years as an aspiring journalist to Great British Life, Collins she said: “I love to write, and I still consider journalism to be something which makes me more attentive to the world and a lot of the critical issues we are facing. She added: “Earlier on when I was more involved in journalism, I developed a keen sense of awareness and interest in politics and culture and so many subjects.”

Lily Collins is married to writer and filmmaker Charlie McDowell who she met while on the set of his movie Gilded Rage in 2019. Like his wife, McDowell also comes from a famous family as he is the son of actress Mary Steenburgen, who has starred in The Proposal, Back To The Future III, Step Brothers, Elf and What’s Eating Gilbert Grape – just to name a few.

They tied the knot with her fiancé in Colorado. The two got engaged a year earlier in September of 2020, after dating for more than a year. Borin in LA, he has made a name for himself as a successful film director, producer, and screenwriter.

For Collins, it was love at first sight, and she even opened up about it on a 2020 episode of Live With Kelly and Ryan. She gushed: “It was one of those situations where I knew the second I met him that I wanted to be his wife one day. So, it was just a matter of when, really.”
