The new rumor comes courtesy of the films newest poster for Screen X.

A slew of characters from Marvel movies outside of the MCU might be making their way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as Deadpool & Wolverine gears up to hit theatres this summer. A myriad of characters have been confirmed to be appearing from the multiverse, and a particular poster of the film might have teased a secret cameo.

Fans have taken to the internet to speculate about who could make an appearance in the film, and given that Deadpool and the X-Men were Fox’s properties. Sony had a slew of parallel properties from Marvel functioning simultaneously, and it is expected that characters from those films are going to make a cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine.

This has caused people to attribute what is like a cameo in one of the film’s posters to a key character from Fox’s first attempt at a Fantastic Four franchise: Chris Evan’s Johnny Storm.

Fans swear that they can see Chris Evans in the new Deadpool & Wolverine poster

Fans have taken to X to talk about who they believe to be Chris Evans’ Johnny Storm from Fox’s Fantastic Four. Chris Evans, of course, went on to essay the role of Captain America in the MCU, becoming one of the key figures for the franchise before his exit in Avengers: Endgame

While there has been a slew of theories making the rounds on the internet about Evans returning to the MCU as Captain America, it seems more likely that the actor might make a cameo as Johhny Storm before characters like Captain America and Iron Man return to the mainline universe.

Fox’s Fantastic Four may finally get their X-Men crossover

A still from Fantastic Four (2005)
Given that Fox owned a slew of characters from Marvel Comics, like Daredevil, Fantastic Four, and the X-Men, There was a time when Fox was looking into adapting Marvel’s Civil War storyline involving the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, one that would also bring in the Skrulls and set up the Secret Invasion storyline for the Fox Universe of Marvel characters.

However, this never came to fruition, but the Fantastic Four that we saw on screen in 2005’s Fantastic Four might finally get the chance (in part) to share the screen with a few of the X-Men, if the rumors end up being accurate.

While nowhere close to the event that the Fantastic Four vs X-Men film would have been, Deadpool & Wolverine has been rumored to unite a slew of characters from across the Marvel Multiverse, serving as a jumping-off point for the Multiverse Saga into its final leg.

With rumors circulating that the film’s villain, Cassandra Nova, will just be one of the various multiversal villains making their way into the MCU, Deadpool & Wolverine might introduce the villain that the coming films will focus on, leading up to Avengers 5.

Deadpool & Wolverine makes landfall in theatres on July 26th, 2024.
