Meghan Markle did not attend the wedding of Hugh Grosvenor and Olivia Henson, but Princess Eugenie’s outfit still paid tribute to her.
Princess Eugenie appeared to make a subtle reference to Meghan Markle with her choice of outfit for the Duke of Westminster’s wedding at Chester Cathedral last Friday.
Meghan and Prince Harry chose to stay away from the nuptials due to their ongoing rift with the Royal Family, in spite of the Duke and Harry being old friends.
But his cousin, who is still on good terms with the Sussexes, wore the sage green Knit Weave Plissé Dubois Dress by Joseph, teamed with Aquazzura heels in nude.
These shoes are also the exact same style as the ones Meghan wore for her and Harry’s engagement photocall in 2017, which she famously paired with a green dress and cream wrap coat.
Aquazzura is a popular shoe designer among the Royal Family, as Princess Kate and Princess Beatrice have both worn footwear by the brand.

The suede Matilde heels feature an intricate strapped design which wraps around the foot and ankle before tying up with a bow just above the heel.
They currently retail at £620 and were previously worn by Eugenie to another royal wedding, that of Prince Christian of Hanover and his wife Alessandra de Osma.
Her Joseph dress is also available at half price, down from £545 to £272, and her Emily London Sabina Pillbox Hat is on sale for a cool £885.

The Duchess of Sussex also chose Aquazzura shoes for her own wedding day in 2018, as she donned a white satin pair with baby blue soles for the evening reception.
Eugenie and Prince William were the two principal royals to attend the Duke’s wedding to Olivia Henson, with William serving as an usher for his close friend.
According to The Times, Harry was initially invited but came to a “civilised understanding” with the Duke that it would be better for him to stay away to avoid a run in with William, and not distract from the big day.

The Sunday Times reported: “Hugh is one of the very few close friends of William and Harry’s who has maintained strong bonds and a line of communication with both.
“He wishes they could put their heads together and patch things up, but realises it’s unlikely to happen before the wedding. He wanted to avoid anything overshadowing the day, especially for Olivia, and doesn’t want any awkwardness.”
Princess Kate was also unable to accompany William to the wedding, as she remains out of the spotlight while she continues her cancer treatment.
