The timeless coming-of-age tale Little Women received a beautifully faithful three-part adaptation from the BBC and PBS’s Masterpiece in 2017 and will be making its way onto Netflix in the United States beginning on November 1st, 2025.
Based on Louisa May Alcott’s beloved 1868 novel, the series follows the four March sisters—Meg (Willa Fitzgerald), Jo (Maya Hawke), Beth (Annes Elwy), and Amy (Kathryn Newton), as they navigate family, love, and independence in post Civil War America.
Those four cast members have gone onto become absolute global megastars for the most part. Maya Hawke would go onto be one of the breakout star of Stranger Things (as Robin Buckley), Hawke has also appeared in Do Revenge for Netflix. Willa Fitzgerald was known for playing Emma Duval in MTV’s Scream series (which Netflix co-distributed) and would also appear in The Fall of the House of Usher. Kathryn Newton is best known for The Society for Netflix (RIP), Freaky, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and Big Little Lies. Finally, Annes Elwy is best known for credits on The Passing, Hidden, and The Feast.
The adaptation was written by Call the Midwife’s Heidi Thomas and directed by Vanessa Caswill, whose graceful touch keeps the period setting vivid but intimate. The ensemble cast also features Angela Lansbury as the formidable Aunt March and Jonah Hauer-King as the charming Laurie.

Netflix has seen an adaptation of the famous novel before in the form of the South Korean adaptation that was produced by Studio Dragon and released on Netflix exclusively back in 2022 and will continue to through October 2032.
Perhaps the most famous adaptation came in 2019 from director Greta Gerwig with Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson and Florence Pugh starring with Sony Pictures Releasing behind that iteration.
This marks the second recent pickup from both the BBC and PBS with Poldark having just recently been added. Netflix also continues to stream Call the Midwife on an annual basis in the US although for the most part, most of the PBS library departed in the early 2020s. Fingers crossed this resurgence means more is on the way…
There’s another British series also scheduled for release this November, but we won’t spoil which one it is just yet, but we will note that this one is a returning favorite… We’ll update you tomorrow. For more on what’s to come to Netflix in the United States throughout November 2025, keep it locked here on What’s on Netflix.
