Kelly Clarkson Had an Unexpected Request for ‘The Voice’ Winner Alexia Jayy—and Fans Have Thoughts

Well, this is interesting.

Kelly Clarkson just made a request that will definitely surprise her fans.

Ever since the singer started hosting The Kelly Clarkson Show back in 2019, she’s included a “Kellyoke” segment at the top of the show. During the segment, Kelly has performed incredible covers of many songs, and viewers often want her to release analbum of reimagined tunes.

So, when newly minted The Voice season 29 winner Alexia Jayyappeared on TKCS on April 21 to promote her new single “Rent Free,” Kelly begged her not to recreate her biggest hits—because she knows they’d be phenomenal.

“The song is great, but, like, you can sing anything,” Kelly said in a clip posted on Instagram. “Please don’t cover my songs!”

And while it seemed like Kelly was serious, she assured Alexia that she’d actually be thrilled by a cover.

“I’m just kidding—I’m totally kidding,” Kelly added. “I would love for you … you would tear them up. I love your voice so much.”

Fans had a lot to say about the exchange in the comments.

“‘Please don’t cover my songs’ 🤣😍,” one person wrote in jest. “Would LOVE to see a duet between these two women! OMG 🔥🔥🔥,” another exclaimed. “I love that the woman who’s known for ‘Kelly Clarkson-ing songs’ when she covers them and everyone says ‘it’s her song now’ is asking Alexia Jayy to not cover her songs, it’s such a big compliment!” a different follower added.

Maybe a duet is in the cards!
