Nicola Coughlan is so obsessed with Bridgerton that she had to decorate her ‘family home in Ireland’ to look just like Colin’s house
The Derry Girls star said living away from home in London was ‘the worst time of her life’
Nicola Coughlan described how living in the UK was “the worst time of her life” but revealed a sneak peek into her native Co Galway family home, which Bridgerton fans say is like something plucked from the popular period drama.
The Derry Girls star said her short stint in London was “lonely” and the intensity of the big smoke got too much for her. The actor, who leads season three of the hit Netflix show, was speaking in 2020 when she returned to Ireland.
“I was so lonely when I moved,” Nicola previously told Getting Curious. “That was one of the killers for me. I was like, I don’t like it here because I don’t know anyone. I used to let the city and the whole rat race thing get to me.”
Since unveiling her home in the town of Oranmore to the world, fans are convinced it could be a set from Bridgerton. The house has hardwood floors, graceful cream coloured walls and ornate door frames, which combined with the absence of anything too modern on the walls gives the house an almost timeless quality.
Nicola’s room features some very eye catching wallpaper by her bed which wouldn’t be out of place in a children’s book. She even has a small ledge over the bed for pictures.
Instagram photos of the property also show show cream doorways and shelves, with some distinctive extra storage over the top of the doorframe.
A Christmastime photo shows that the house’s sitting room has a tasteful ornately designed carpet, with matching curtains and walls. The Coughlan family Christmas tree really stands out against its surroundings.
Last year, Nicola, who also featured summer sensation Barbie, revealed how she would spend her ideal day in Co Galway. She said she would enjoy a lie-in before heading for a coffee at Gourmet Tart Co in Salthill.
Next up on her agenda would be a visit to Coole Park, before Moran’s on the Weir in Kilcolgan for a seafood lunch and some Guinness.
