Bridgerton fans are already eager to know when they can expect the fourth season of the hit Netflix show

Netflix has revealed what to expect when it comes to the fourth season of Bridgerton. The third season of the hit show dropped earlier this month and saw Nicola Coughlan as the lead character, Penelope Featherington.

While we have just received the third season of the show, fans are already eager to know when they can expect the fourth season of the show and who it will focus on. The renewal of Bridgerton Season 4 was announced in 2021, alongside Season 3’s confirmation, the streaming giant revealed.

“From the first time I read Julia Quinn’s delicious Bridgerton series, I knew these were stories that would captivate a viewing audience,” said executive producer Shonda Rhimes. “But the evolution of this adaptation would not be a success without the many significant contributions of the entire Shondaland team. This two-season pickup is a strong vote of confidence in our work.”

In an article on Tudum, Netflix’s official publication, the streaming service revealed that there could be a lot more drama for Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin (Luke Newton) even after the happy ending in season 3.

“It’s still possible some scandal could be lurking in Season 4. As Penelope points out, the queen’s (Golda Rosheuvel) favor could disappear at any moment as she continues to write Lady Whistledown under her own name,” they revealed.

Meanwhile, Newton teased: “It’ll never be just chill and quiet. I can’t wait to see what happens with all that.”

At the end of season 3, Penelope and Colin finally marry, and Penelope becomes the mother of the next Lord Featherington. Fans praised Coughlan for her performance in the series, which included some of the steamiest scenes fans of the show have seen to date.

“When you go through your season, there’s always twists and turns because it’s interesting to watch,” Newton explained. “But once you’ve had your moment, it’s really nice to see how they’ll navigate married life. It’ll be a place of comfort for them and they’ll really enjoy it.”

While season 4 of the show has been confirmed, fans will reportedly have to wait until 2026 to see it. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jess Brownell revealed that it will take two years for the next season to come out.

“I’m really excited about what we’re writing. We’re toward the end with the writer’s room season, with the scripts. And I feel like it’s some of my best work and my writer’s room’s best work. We’ve just really gelled our collaboration, and we’re firing on all cylinders, so I can’t wait for fans to see what we have,” she revealed.

“We are working to try and put the seasons out more quickly, but they do take eight months to film and then they have to be edited, and then they have to be dubbed into every language. And the writing takes a very long time as well, so we’re kind of on a two-year pace, we’re trying to speed up, but somewhere in that range.”
