The Diplomat Has Been Renewed for Season 4, Ahead of Season 3 Release
The political drama series will return for even more high tea and tension.Kate Wyler’s diplomatic assignment has been extended once again.
The Diplomat Season 4 has officially been greenlit, meaning Kate (Keri Russell), Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell), and the rest of the political power players will be back for more stately homes and state secrets.
But before Season 4 gets underway, we’ve still got Season 3 to enjoy. The much-anticipated third season of the series will see Bradley Whitford (The West Wing, The Handmaid’s Tale) join the cast as Todd Penn, the husband of Allison Janney’s President Grace Penn. “Bradley was the perfect addition to what is already a dream cast,” executive producer Janice Williams previously told Tudum. The third season arrives in fall 2025.
Creator, showrunner, and executive producer Debora Cahn says, “Season 3 flips the chessboard. Kate lives the particular nightmare that is getting what you want.”
Season 2 ended on a shocking cliff-hanger. After Kate realized that Vice President Penn was involved in the Season 1 attack on a British naval ship, the season finale saw Kate’s diplomat husband, Hal, call President Rayburn (Michael McKean) directly to tell him about the part Grace played. The news came as such a shock to President Rayburn that he suffered a heart attack and died — meaning Penn is now president.
David Gyasi, Ali Ahn, Ato Essandoh, and Rory Kinnear also star.
