On Saturday, Feb. 28, officials continued on their search for Nancy Guthrie, the the mother of “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie, and the case hit an important milestone.

Nancy Guthrie first went missing from her Tucson, Arizona, home on Feb. 1, and police and authorities have been searching for her ever since. Officials believe she was taken against her will.

Saturday officially marks the final day of February, and that means it’s coming up on one full month since Nancy Guthrie has been missing.

Now, authorities have announced that they’re going about the case in a different way. But, the search for Nancy continues, and they say that they’re not letting up until she’s found.

Nancy Guthrie Update Today: Case Nears 1 Month, As Officials Shift Resources

So, now that the case has been going on for nearly a month, officials are changing some aspects of their investigation. Authorities have announced that they’re lowering the number of detectives assigned to the investigation, as part of a new phase.

On Friday, Feb. 27, a spokesperson for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department in Arizona, Angelica Carrillo, said that only detectives directly assigned to Nancy Guthrie’s case will be involved, unless large movement in the case warrants more staffing. But, Carrillo emphasized that the case remains active and says they’re still focused on finding Savannah Guthrie’s mother.

“This remains an active investigation and will continue until Nancy Guthrie is located or all leads have been exhausted,” Carrillo said, according to a report from the New York Times.

Savannah Guthrie continues to ask the public to come forward with any tips. “If you’ve been waiting and you haven’t been sure, let this be your sign to please come forward. Tell what you know, and help us bring our beloved mom home,” she said in a video message on her social media pages.

“Please – be the one that brings her home,” Savannah added in a caption on separate video on social media. “Tips can be anonymous, reward can be paid in cash, as explained here.”

She added in the post, “Call 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) NOTE: Family reward of up to $1 million will be paid only for recovery of Nancy Guthrie, consistent with FBI criteria for payment of its reward in this case.”

In the clip, Savannah’s “Today” co-anchor Craig Melvin talked with NBC correspondent Liz Kreutz about how the FBI ensures that people who call get to stay anonymous. Kreutz said that “experts” are handling the situation and that people who call in a qualifying tip are able to pick up their reward at a “neutral location.”
