There’s no shortage of reports stating that King Charles and Prince Harry are going through a little familial drama, especially since rumors have been swirling that Charles won’t take his son’s calls and that he’s too busy to see him. But new information is coming to light after the king’s visit with religious leaders.

Sources say that there are inklings that Charles “has faith” that Harry “will return” to the royal fold after years of conflict and ill will. The news comes as insiders say that Charles has been spending time with religious leaders.

“Faith has always been a part of Charles’s life and something he’s explored, but since becoming king it is playing a more central role,” a source told the Daily Mail, per the Mirror. “That reliance on faith and quiet contemplation has become a comfort and asset to him and helps him cope with the role as he adapts to being king.”

The source went on to say that Charles misses his son and the relationship that they had before the infighting and feuding. And even though the royals haven’t addressed anything publicly, it’s clear that the situation has been trying for everyone involved.

“Charles misses his son. He still loves Harry and wants him back for personal reasons—regardless that he and Meghan do not [want to] return to royal life. Harry will always be Charles’s much-loved son,” the source continued. “He has faith that Harry could return. He misses the bond they once had, and the door will always remain open to him and his family. He does not want years of discord and disharmony clouding his reign.”

The insiders went on to say that the reconciliation doesn’t require Harry to resume his duties as a working royal. It’s about family, the sources explain, not anything political.

“He [Charles] still loves Harry and wants him back for personal reasons—regardless that he and Meghan do not [want to] return to royal life,” they said.

One obstacle that could hinder a resolution is Harry’s brother, William. According to insiders, William isn’t as open to a reunion and it’s become a “major barrier to peace” for the family.

Harry was present for Charles’s coronation in 2023 at Westminster Abbey and flew home to the U.K. after his father shared his cancer diagnosis, but hasn’t been back very often otherwise—and his children haven’t been back since Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee.
