A royal expert has claimed that after one major change, the close relationship that was once enjoyed between Princess Kate and Prince Harry came crashing down
Princess Kate and Prince Harry may not be as close as they once were but for a long time they shared a seriously close bond with Harry calling her in his memoir “the sister I had never had and always wanted”.
When Kate and William met as undergraduates at the University of St Andrews, it didn’t take long before the now Prince of Wales introduced his new girlfriend to his younger brother, and they got on well. When Kate and William eventually married, the couple and Harry became somewhat of a trio and regularly undertook engagements and charitable initiatives together. However, a royal expert has claimed that the strong relationship which Harry and Kate shared quickly fell apart after one major change in the Duke of Sussex’s life.
The royal expert – journalist and author Robert Jobson – made the claim in his bombshell new book, Catherine, the Princess of Wales: the Biography. Despite previously getting along very well, the pair immediately became more distant upon the start of Harry’s burgeoning romance with Meghan Markle, the author alleges.
“Ever since they first met, Catherine had always enjoyed a close relationship with her brother-in-law… When Meghan came into his life, however, the dynamic of the relationship changed,” the expert claimed. Harry addresses his relationship with his sister-in-law in a lot of detail in his bestselling memoir Spare, from when they first met, their shared good times, and the tensions that arose around his wedding to Meghan, and a fall out that occurred between his bride and sister-in-law over a bridesmaid dress for Princess Charlotte.
He also claimed that after the first time the two couples appeared in public together, some of the coverage of their appearance at the Royal Foundation Forum seemed to make Kate tense. “Days later, controversy. Something about Meg showing support for #metoo, and Kate not showing support – via their outfits? I think that was the gist, though who can say? It wasn’t real.” Harry wrote. “But I think that it had Kate on edge, while putting her and everyone else on notice that she was now going to be compared to, and forced to compete with, Meg.”
Harry also claimed in his memoir that despite the fact Kate had brought flowers and apologised to Meghan for the row over the bridesmaid dress, things were still a little bit tense between the two couples. A month after Harry and Meghan’s wedding all four of the senior royals tried to resolve their differences at William and Kate’s home where – Harry alleged – Kate revealed her feelings had been hurt when Meghan had talked about her “baby brain” and “hormones” shortly after Kate had given birth to Prince Louis.
