One of the girls is believed to be between 8 and 13 years old, while the other was estimated to be between 10 and 14, Cleveland Police Chief Dorothy Todd said Tuesday.

They were found in a rarely traveled section of a field near Ginn Academy, an all-boys public high school.

The dog walker called 911 after seeing the first body, and detectives found the second. Both of their bodies were intact and they weren’t dismembered.

In a press conference, Todd described the case as “a terrible, tragic situation.”

“We are hoping to find answers,” she told reporters.

Phillip Donaldson, who found the first body, relived the moment he stumbled upon the bone chilling sight.

He said his dog ran up to the fence line of a playground and found a suitcase, FOX affiliate WJW reported.

When Donaldson unzipped the bag, he saw a head and quickly called the cops.

The devastated dog owner said he hasn’t been able to sleep since.

Investigators are still working to identify the girls, who are believed to be homicide victims.

Cops admitted they haven’t found any local missing persons cases that match the girls’ descriptions.

Their bodies are with the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office, which is working to determine a cause of death.

Todd said the bodies appeared to have been there for “some time,” saying that heavy snowfall likely concealed the grave.

However, they’re still working to determine a more specific timeline.

Cheryl Young, who has lived near the spot where the girls were found for 26 years, said she was stunned to learn something this sinister was in her neighborhood.

“It’s shocking,” she told the local outlet.

“Makes me a little bit afraid. It’s just frightening to think that something like that has happened that close to where you live.”

Investigators have asked locals to check doorbell camera footage for any suspicious activity, and to report any tips.

There’s a $5,000 reward for any information that could lead to an arrest.
