Following his comeback to the UFC earlier this month at UFC 301, Jose Aldo fought the last fight on his contract, and he has now provided an update on his future in the sport.
Jose Aldo returned to UFC action for the first time in two years earlier this month, dominating bantamweight contender, Jonathan Martinez at UFC 301 in Rio de Janeiro.
Prior to the fight, ‘The King of Rio’ admitted that he was originally supposed to come back to fight Dominick Cruz, but Cruz couldn’t be ready for the May 4th date.
Although that is a fight the UFC fans have been salivating at the prospect of for several years, the likelihood of it seemed to wither away with Aldo fighting the last fight on his UFC contract.

Jose Aldo provides an update on his future in MMA
Following his fight against Martinez, Aldo entertained the idea of jumping the queue at bantamweight to fight current champion, Sean O’Malley. He then re-entered the 135lb rankings at number eight.
The Brazilian has since provided a further update on his contract situation, stating that there are UFC offers ‘on the table’.
“They’re sitting there already, my representatives are already sitting with Sean Shelby and getting things done, I think there’s some stuff on the table, a lot of proposals coming in.” Aldo told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour.
“It’s not about the money anymore, it’s more about what I can do and what I can accomplish. I think in the fight I was able to show a lot of things I can do, that I’m an MMA fighter and a complete fighter so now the conversation is about what can we show in the future.” he added.
Jose Aldo reveals offer to fight on Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson undercard
In his time away from the promotion, the 37-year-old competed in boxing three times, winning twice and drawing on the other occasion.
It seemed as though the former featherweight champion was returning to the UFC to complete his contract, to then pursue endeavors in the realm of boxing.
Despite that, he has since revealed he had a fight scheduled for the blockbuster Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson event, admitting that he has since had a change of heart and will instead wait to see what the UFC offers him.
The Brazilian was scheduled to fight boxer, Neeraj Goyat, an Indian boxer who has previously campaigned for a fight against Jake Paul. Goyat has a professional boxing record of 18-4-2, with the majority of his fights having taken place in Asia.
“As far as boxing is concerned, I actually had a fight scheduled coming up on the Jake Paul (and Mike Tyson) card. He had invited me to be part of the great show, the spectacle that it’s going to be, but I’m going to have to sit down and wait for what the UFC offers me.
“Because of the love and the respect I have for the organization, I want to listen to them. I do feel very confident in the boxing ring, I feel good doing boxing, I have things to accomplish there, but I need to step back and evaluate the UFC’s proposal.” Aldo finished.
