A twelve-year-old Texas boy named Parker Roll says he feels extraordinarily lucky to be alive after surviving a terrifying shark attack while vacationing with his family in the Bahamas. The harrowing incident occurred on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, when the family traveled with a boat crew to a secluded beach in Staniel Cay, a small island located in the Exuma Cays. While swimming in the area, Parker’s sixteen-year-old brother, Jack Roll, initially spotted a large marine creature approaching them in the water, mistakenly identifying it as a docile nurse shark before realizing it was actually an aggressive reef shark measuring between eight and ten feet long. Within moments of the sighting, the predatory animal latched onto Parker’s leg, prompting an ear-piercing scream that instantly alerted his siblings and the surrounding crew. Parker recalled that the initial bite was numbing due to a massive rush of adrenaline, but he distinctly remembers looking down into the water and seeing the massive shark head, which measured well over a foot wide, clamping down on his limb.
