Half of the show is already spoiled.
Nowadays, TV shows are produced for longer, with much higher budgets than before, and attract a lot of A-listers to the cast. As a result, the wait between seasons can be several years, and viewers get more excited than just a few episodes. It is only fair that after such a long wait, and with so few episodes to indulge in, fans want to stay away from spoilers.
And yet, studios’ reckless promo decisions are forcing spoilers down everyone’s throats, no matter what the show is about.
House of the Dragon Season 2 Spoilers
There is a big difference between the studio releasing teasers, trailers, and even snippets of upcoming episodes, as these are carefully chosen to generate interest but not spoil the important parts. Once viewers or influencers see the actual episodes, social media gets flooded with unwanted spoilers.
Redditor LILYDIAONE, upset by the number of House of Dragons spoilers they have seen, blames HBO’s open screenings for starting the chain of photos, quotes, and reactions about what’s going to happen in season 2 before season 2 is actually here.
“Each leak I’m reading is worse than the last. I have heard at least 50 different versions of B&C sometimes with Maelor there sometimes not. People cannot tell if he exists or not. <…> I’m telling you those screenings were a mistake. I was so excited for the next season now I’m just scared,” they said.
Netflix ‘s Bridgerton made the same mistake earlier this year. In order to generate as much hype as possible for the show, the studio held fan events with screenings for both part 1 and part 2 of its third season, which were released on June 13.
No matter how much fans protest today and complain about seeing unmarked spoilers left, right, and center, the fear is that this practice will continue for upcoming seasons of said shows, as well as some of the new releases.

As streaming platforms continue to raise subscription prices, the demand for any kind of promotion is very high. Chances are that all the leaks and spoilers are a deliberate attempt to keep the fandom going and talking about their favorite shows. But, if you want to escape this, the only way is to leave social media altogether.
Fortunately, the wait for both House of the Dragon and Bridgerton’s new season is not long. House of the Dragon will premiere on HBO on June 16, and Bridgerton’s season 3 finale will be released on Netflix on June 13.
