'The Perfect Couple' First 7 Minutes.

Greer Garrison Winbury welcomes you — if you’re dressed accordingly.

Grab the truffle popcorn and a glass of red wine, because you can watch the opening scene of The Perfect Couple right now.

Showrunner and creator Jenna Lamia hopes that those will be your snacks of choice when you tune in on Sept. 5 to continue consuming the murder mystery series. “That’s what I always pictured for some reason,” she tells Tudum. “If we’re not giving Olivia Pope, we haven’t done our job.”

The Perfect Couple, which is based on the bestselling beach read by Elin Hilderbrand, captures the textures, colors, and oysters of a Nantucket summer in its first seven minutes. “Everything I’ve done, I’ve always been very meticulous about the world being correct, but also the characters being specific because what never works is if it becomes generic,” director and executive producer Susanne Bier tells Tudum. “You need to understand the world.”

Lamia knew that Nantucket would be a character in itself in the series so “when I first spoke to Elin herself, the thing that we really connected on, among others, was that we really wanted to get Nantucket right,” she says. “We really had to get the details right, the hydrangeas, the Nantucket red pants, the beat-up boat shoes. It’s wealth that looks like it isn’t trying.”

The splendor on display is all in celebration of the wedding of Benji Winbury (Billy Howle) and Amelia Sacks (Eve Hewson). Hosted by the groom’s mother, Greer Garrison Winbury (Nicole Kidman), the #WinburyWedding is set to be a Fourth of July weekend affair to remember.

In the first few minutes, which you can watch up top, a camera crew playfully follows the Winburys’ high society guests as they toast to the happy couple at the rehearsal dinner. We quickly meet maid of honor Merritt Monaco (Meghann Fahy), best man Shooter Dival (Ishaan Khattar), and the rest of the Winbury dynasty, including father Tag (Liev Schreiber), Benji’s older brother Thomas (Jack Reynor), and his pregnant wife Abby (Dakota Fanning), younger brother Will (Sam Nivola), and family friend Isabel Nallet (Isabelle Adjani).

But by the next morning, the Champagne bubbles have lost their fizz, and the Nantucket police station receives a call that they’ve got a “floater” — aka, a dead body on the Winbury property. As police chief Dan Carter (Michael Beach) says, “No one’s getting married today.”

Lamia hopes people watch The Perfect Couple with “bated breath and needing to keep going, because they can’t stand that they’re not sure who did it yet,” she says. “But I hope they’ll also laugh!”

Grab your elegant popcorn when The Perfect Couple premieres Sept. 5, only on Netflix.
