Frank Bruno Has No Doubt Who Was Better Between Mike Tyson And Lennox Lewis: “He Had It All”

Much-loved British boxing legend Frank Bruno has revealed who he thinks is the best fighter he went toe-to-toe with throughout a career that included both Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis.

Bruno was a hugely popular figure in British culture through the late 80s and 90s. The Londoner had a difficult career that saw him take some hard losses, especially in world title fights, but on September 25, 1995, in his fourth tilt at a version of the heavyweight championship, he finally got the belt he and his fans had long craved.

Before that, of course, he had shared the ring with both Tyson and Lewis and came up short both times, first in 1989 against Tyson, then in 1993 against Lewis. In both contests, Bruno did well in the early rounds and managed to use his jab and power shots to keep his opponents at bay, but was eventually stopped by both men.

When speaking to The Ring Magazine for the Best I Faced feature, Bruno went put his old foe ‘Iron Mike’ at the top of the tree.

“Tyson had it all; the hunger to win the belts, to fight, to move and determination to take anybody down that crossed him at his peak. He knew the quicker he could get rid of his opponent the less chance he would get caught and he was determined to get rid of his opponents quickly.”
