FIRST LOOK JUST DROPPED — Monster Season 4 is officially in production, and Netflix just unveiled a stunning behind-the-scenes preview. Ella Beatty steps into the role of Lizzie Borden, joined by Charlie Hunnam, Vicky Krieps, and Rebecca Hall in what promises to be the most chilling chapter yet.
Filming is underway in Los Angeles — and every photo hints that this season will go darker than ever before.

Last week, Netflix officially announced that filming has begun on the fourth season of Monster, its anthology serial killer drama series from Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan. Now, just a few days later, we can exclusively reveal some behind-the-scenes snaps of the series as filming takes the streets of Los Angeles.
As we were among the first to report, the new season will focus on Lizzie Borden, the Massachusetts woman accused of murdering her parents in 1892. Of course, Borden was eventually acquitted of the crimes, but the brutal nature of the murders attracted nationwide attention and contributed to Borden’s place in popular culture.
Since the release of season 3 of the anthology series, which covered Ed Gein and starred Hunnam, Netflix has announced the cast slowly, first through its own announcements and later through scoops from the trades.

Ella Beatty will lead the cast as Lizzie, taking over from Ed Gein star Charlie Hunnam, who will return to play Andrew Borden. Joining her are Vicky Krieps (another person returning from season 3) as the Borden’s maid Bridget Sullivan, Rebecca Hall as stepmother Abby Borden, Billie Lourd as sister Emma, and Jessica Barden as Lizzie’s actress friend Nance O’Neill. Max Winkler will direct the first episode.
Filming on the fourth season of Monster will run through the holidays and into 2026 with a preliminary wrap date initially set for sometime in March 2026. No release date has been set, but based on prior seasons’ turnaround times, we’d expect a Fall 2026 premiere for the fourth season.
Let’s run through all the new snaps we’ve got our mitts on, beginning with Hunnam, who was spotted in a brown robe, with curly hair and a full beard. He almost looked like a Jesus-esque figure.

Next up, we’ve got Lizzie Borden herself. We’ve got multiple shots of Ella Beatty getting ready for shooting alongside Vicky Krieps in a pink dress, with some of the shots having her also don a flower wreath on her head.
