Emily in Paris is taking on Rome in the new season 5 trailer!
On Wednesday, Oct. 22, Netflix dropped a teaser for the forthcoming fifth season of the comedy, previewing what happens as Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) and Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini) explore their romance further while Emily lives it up in Rome.
“We start on a beautiful woman. She’s joined by a man. It’s clear they know each other,” a voiceover says during the teaser, which features glimpses of Emily and Marcello getting closer. “Unable to keep their hands off each other, eventually sharing a kiss.”

The teaser also shows Marcello touching Emily’s leg at dinner, giving her a smile during a joyride and the two sharing an intimate kiss in bed.
“Rome looks so good on you,” Ashley Park’s Mindy Chen tells Emily.
The remainder of the teaser features luxurious boat rides, parties and, of course, some talk of business. “If we’re all here, who’s in Paris,” Samuel Arnold’s Julien asks his colleagues before the trailer cheekily ends with the words “Emily in Rome” flashing on the screen.

Season 5 follows Emily and Marcello’s growing romance after it kicked off in the season prior, as she moved to the Rome offices for Agence Grateau. Netflix also shared a few new behind-the-scenes images from the show’s forthcoming season, following Emily as she “takes love and life to the next level” during the “tale-of-two-cities” season, per creator Darren Star.
Beyond the returning cast of Park, Collins, Franceschini, Arnold and more, Emily in Paris season 5 also welcomes new cast members Bryan Greenberg, Michèle Laroque and Minnie Driver.
“From Parisian rooftops to Roman ruins, we can’t wait to share where Emily’s next chapter takes us,” Star said, per Netflix, adding that Emily’s adventure in Rome “doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris.”

The latest installment taking place in Italy only meant the show could “stay ahead of the audience and take them to unexpected places,” while having “the ability to have a bigger footprint,” Starr said.
“Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily, because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work-life balance,” Collins said in a statement. “We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.”
She added, “I feel like they have a real spark and a real connection and a real romantic connection. A lot of that’s going to continue to play out next season.”
Back in September, Lucien Laviscount (who plays Alfie in the series) told PEOPLE that fans should “strap in” ahead of season 5’s storyline, which he revealed “goes left, so far left, and a little bit right.”
“I didn’t know what to expect — none of us do before we get the scripts — and we got the scripts for this season and it’s… Yeah, I don’t think anyone could have foreseen that coming,” he said, teasing some major twists.
Season 5 of Emily in Paris premieres on Netflix on Dec. 18.
