👉 Are you ready for the fallout?

Sullivan’s Crossing season 4 is all about “transformation” after that shocking secret husband twist in the season 3 finale, creator Roma Roth has revealed.
“I’m absolutely thrilled that Sullivan’s Crossing is returning for a fourth season,” Roth, 56, said in a statement to Deadline on Thursday, August 21. “Seeing it resonate with a global audience and watching the ratings climb have been a dream come true. Season 4 will explore themes of change and transformation, so you can expect a whole new set of exciting and emotional challenges for Maggie and Cal.”
Season 3, which aired from May to July on The CW before streaming on Netflix in August, saw Maggie (Morgan Kohan) and Cal (Chad Michael Murray) navigate disagreements in their relationship, including Maggie’s hesitation to move in with Cal and Cal’s fear that Maggie may resent choosing to stay with him at the Crossing in Nova Scotia over her career as a neurosurgeon in Boston.
However, their biggest challenge came when Maggie’s “ex” Liam (Marcus Rosner), whom she claimed was only a brief summer fling before she finished medical school, showed up at the Crossing and referred to himself as Maggie’s husband.
“I remember hearing a little bit [about Liam early in season 3]. I didn’t know they were married,” Kohan, 31, told Swooon in July. “There started to be talk when we filmed the scene with Lola and having summer flings. I knew that he was going to be coming into it, but I didn’t really know when or in what capacity. That cliffhanger was so much fun for me to read as well.”
She added that Maggie’s hesitation to get serious with Cal made sense after learning about her past with Liam.
“I feel like it came up so last minute that I didn’t really have time to think about it, but I think it definitely would. It makes a lot more sense, for sure, for her to be more hesitant,” Kohan continued. “At the same time, I still don’t know the history, so who knows when we get to find out a bit more of that information, what he really means that he’s her husband and all that kind of stuff.”

Sullivan’s Crossing, which is based on the novel series by Virgin River author Robyn Carr, was renewed for a 10-episode fourth season in July. The new season is now in production, according to Deadline. A photo shared by the outlet showed Maggie standing between Cal and Liam, with Maggie smiling ahead as Cal looked at her with a loving expression. Meanwhile, Liam appeared to be glaring at Cal, hinting at a possible love triangle in season 4.
“We’re so happy returning to our Sullivan’s family and these wonderful characters,” Murray, 43, told the outlet. “There’s always an excitement in being back on set and I’m proud of how far the show has come; not only here in Canada, but around the world. It’s amazing to be part of something that resonates with people in such a meaningful way.”
Kohan added, “I am beyond proud to be going back for Season 4 with such an amazing cast and crew. It’s been absolutely incredible to see the organic growth of our show throughout our first three seasons. We’ve had such a beautiful audience base in Canada and it’s been so exciting to see that expand in such a huge way internationally. Season 4 truly feels like our best yet and I can’t wait to share it with everyone!”
Sullivan’s Crossing season 4 is expected to arrive in 2026.
