El Monstruo won his fight against Gvozdyk on Saturday night

David Benavidez is at a good point in his career: he can decide to go for the world championship at 168 pounds or 175 pounds.
If he opts for the smaller category, the path crosses him with his desired opponent, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, the outright Super Middleweight champion. If he stays at semi-complete, Dmitry Bivol could be in his way.

Benavidez asks Saul Alvarez to beat him and shut him up
A few days ago Canelo Alvarez declared that he considers himself the best fighter in the world, but Benavidez replied that he can’t be if he doesn’t face him as the WBC mandatory challenger.
Now the Mexican Monster sends another message to the Jalisco native after beating Oleksandr Gvozdyk in Las Vegas on Saturday.
“It’s a win-win fight: the boxing world wins, the fans win and it’s the fight we have to make. If Canelo really thinks he’s the best in the world, let him come and beat me and shut my mouth,” Benavidez said.
“In the meantime, I’m going to keep fighting, and keep working hard. And I’m going to keep showing them why I’m the Mexican Monster.”
Benavidez must choose: Canelo or Bivol
The win over Ukraine’s Gvozdyk (20-2-0) left Benavidez (29-0, 27KOs) as interim WBC light heavyweight champion, the same division as Dmitry Bivol, Saul Alvarez‘s latest tormentor.
“I keep getting asked about Canelo, but I don’t care about Canelo. I want to stay in my own lane and that’s why I came to 175lbs,” he said.
“I’ve been trying to get that fight with Canelo for a long, long time and, as you can see, I already have the level of star attraction with people, people like the way I fight and interact very well with me, but that would be a very big fight.”
Bivol (23-0), the IBO and WBA champion, would face Artur Beterbiev (20-0), the IBF, WBC and WBO champion, with the winner becoming the overall champion of the division and Benavidez the challenger if he stays at 175 pounds.
