Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez’s cache is blowing out of proportion for many of the boxing analysts in the world who have followedhis career overthe years. Initially, Alvarez has stated that the only way he would fight David Benavidez is ifhe was offered $200 million for the fight. If this deal becomes a reality, and that started the roll the ball on what could potentially become one of the most expensive fights in boxing history. Currently, the biggest argument against boxing is that this sport is no longer pure because all fighters are moved by obscene amounts of money and it’s no longer a fight between the two best fighters in the division. This has been the norm for decades now.
Contrary to how the UFC has a system of the best fighting only against the best, there is a ranking that has maintained a steady rise in the level of performance. Before Canelo made this $200 million statement about Benavidez, he only had Mexican detractors but that statement got him a lot of criticism from boxing analysts who are covering the sport in English. One of them is convinced that Alvarez is not worth that much to fight and they even dared say that Benavidez is better than him. We already know that Canelo always fights on Mexican Independence Day but he is still hasn’t decided to fight anybody as he is still recovering from the Jaime Munguia fight.

The main argument about the $200 million, isthat Canelo set that price taf only because he is not really interested in fighting David Benavidez. Even the great champion Terence Crawford publicly stated that Alvarez is ducking Benavidez and that’s why he said that number. No promotion would be crazy enough to offer that much money to any boxer in the world but perhaps the Saudi promoters wouldn’t care about that. Having lost tens of millions for the Oleksandr Usyk vs Tyson Fury fight, that clearly shows they don’t care about losing money as long as they put out the best boxing events in the world. So technically, Canelo should beare of whathe wishes for.
