Image Shows Last Moment Missing College Student Owen Kenney, 19, Was Seen Before He Vanished on Halloween

Police have released a photo showing the last time missing 19-year-old Owen Tillman Kenney was seen before disappearing in the early hours of Halloween in South Carolina.

In the photo the Charleston Police Department (CPD) shared alongside an updated news release, Kenney could be seen wearing a black jacket, black hat, light-colored jeans, and black-and-white Nike sneakers. A black covering covered half of his face in the shot.

Police said that while initial reports indicated he was wearing a “Boston Celtics jersey” — which was part of his Halloween costume — the last sighting instead showed that he was actually wearing darker clothes without any visible brands on them.

Detectives with the Charleston Police Department determined that Kenney was last spotted “walking alone” onto the Ravenel Bridge pedestrian walkway shortly after 3 a.m. on October 31, 2025.

“His cell phone’s last recorded location was also on the Ravenel Bridge around that same time,” police said.

The CPD said in its release that it has since deployed multiple resources in the search for Kenney in the area, including an underwater recovery team, harbor patrol, K9 units and police’s unmanned aerial system team. Police said they were also in contact with Kenney’s parents, who are part of the “ongoing investigation.”

“We would like to thank the countless people who have been looking for Owen and sharing his photos on social media,” police said in a statement. “While we recognize the tremendous public interest and concern surrounding this case, it is important to remember that at the heart of this investigation is a family searching for their loved one.”

Prior to this new update, the CPD said Kenney was last seen by friends in the area of King Street and Burns Lane around 2 a.m. local time on Friday, Oct. 31.

“He was minutes from his house but never made it home,” his family said in a post shared on Facebook.

The College of Charleston student was reported missing on Saturday, Nov. 1, according to a bulletin shared by the school. Kenney’s roommates told NBC affiliate WCBD that they attempted to track their friend’s location, but said his phone was out of battery when he vanished.

One student at the university, who did not know Kenney personally, told the outlet, “It’s honestly really eerie on campus right now, I would say we’re definitely feeling the distance here.” “I’ve never seen anything like this before. It’s definitely scary. And I just really pray that this doesn’t happen again,” he added to the outlet.
